Home and Community-Based Services
“Our focus is to provide services that allow people [program participants] to be an integrated part of their community to be valued as a contributing member of their community.”
Anastasia Keller-Collins, Vice President of Program Development
We believe that participants with disabilities flourish when they are provided experiences in community settings comprised of ordinary life activities. Independence and self-esteem are increased when there are opportunities for meaningful participation, associations with community members, and roles of acquired leadership. Under the self determination philosophy, participants initiate their own individualized plan and are supported in a variety of ways to achieve personal success.
At Easter Seals Hawai'i, we offer a comprehensive set of services and care to adults and children with developmental disabilities and their families, providing them with the support needed to experience a variety of opportunities to foster independence without having to search for a variety of providers.

Adult Day Health focuses on providing a small group environment that fosters growth, and challenges the adult participant to increase independence in a variety of community settings. Emphasis is placed on individual choice, allowing adults to pursue opportunities that match their interests and skills while promoting their dignity and independence. The program provides daily respite for individual and family caregivers as well as provides participants with educational, social, health and recreational opportunities.
Support Services focuses on providing one-to-one support that will enable the participant to reach individual personal goals of independence as well as help the participant become a participating member of his or her community. This includes helping the participant learn various skills such as job skill development, socialization, and the ability to form relationships.
Work Force Development helps individuals overcome barriers to employment and community participation. Utilizing evidence-based employment strategies, services are directed toward sustainable employment for individuals in valued competitive jobs in the private, public and non-profit sectors.
Personal Assistance/Habilitation One-to-one support that increases a participant's skill base to optimize their personal and social competency in order to live successfully in the community. Some of these activities may include eating, bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, and activities of daily living such as meal preparation and access to community resources.
Chore Service provides support with routine housecleaning, laundry, shopping, light yard work, simple home repairs, and preparing meals.
Long Term Adult Supports & Resources (LASR) Program provides funding to families and individuals to purchase needed services and items that are not covered by insurances such as replacement hearing aids, canes, eye glasses, dental services and airfare for medical consultations.
